About Mono Guitar Shop
Mono Guitar was founded with a simple goal: to create a repair shop that truly serves musicians.
For many players, their instrument is more than just a tool. It’s a creative partner, a source of identity, and sometimes the center of an entire musical life. Instruments deserve to be maintained with care, patience, and respect for the craft behind them.
This shop exists to provide that kind of service.
The shop takes inspiration from the tradition of independent studios and workshops that see their work not simply as a business, but as a service to the creative community. The goal is not simply to fix guitars, but to help musicians continue making music.
My Background
Care for the Instrument
Care for the instrument Every instrument deserves careful and thoughtful work.
Mono Guitar is a one-man operation run by me, Sean Roberts.
I’ve been a lifelong musician, and while studying audio engineering I quickly developed a fascination with the technical side of music. I became the person who wanted to take things apart, figure out how they worked, and put them back together better than before.
Over time my love of outsider and experimental guitar music pulled me deeper into the world of guitar pedals. That interest quickly grew into an obsession with signal flow and building clean, reliable rigs that could survive real-world use.
Designing and wiring pedalboards eventually became the natural intersection of those interests: music, electronics, and the craft of building systems that work the way musicians need them to.
What started as curiosity eventually became a craft. I genuinely love maintaining and improving the tools that enable musicians to continue creating. It’s an honor to work on every instrument that comes into the shop and I give them all the same high level of care.
My Philosophy
Respect the Musician
Clear communication and fair pricing matter.
Serve the Community
A good repair shop should support the local music scene, and the Portland area scene means everything to me.
